Have you ever thought of having a “live-in” caregiver? For some clients, a live-in caregiver works great. You get to know just a couple of people instead of five or six for round the clock care. This caregiving scenario provides the most continuity of care possible.

Typically, a live-in caregiver works five to seven days a week and then has five to seven days off. He or she goes to the client’s home prepared to stay for the agreed upon time frame. Here are some basic FAQs about how live-in care works at Covenant Caregivers:

Sleep Time

· Ideally, the live-in caregiver gets at least 5 hours of uninterrupted sleep; however, should the client need something during this time, the caregiver will respond.

· Also, there needs to be a bedroom designated for the caregiver as well as a bathroom.

Meals

· The caregiver is responsible for his or her own meals and snacks. If desired, the client may provide some meals.

Caregiver Wages

· All applicable labor laws are followed so that the live-in caregiver is paid appropriately and we, as the agency, are in compliance. The client has no liability beyond the hourly rate he or she has agreed upon. Live-in caregivers are employees of Covenant Caregivers just like all other caregivers.
